What are the origins of Mother’s Day?
Originally celebrated by the ancient Greeks as a spring festival to maternal goddesses, and by the Romans for the goddess Cybele, Mothering Sunday became a Christian festival where Christians would celebrate their ‘mother church’. The modern day of appreciation of motherhood was begun in the United States in the early part of the 20th century.
When is Mother's Day 2019?
The date of Mother’s Day changes every year, as it is always the fourth Sunday of Lent. As Easter is late this year, so is Mother’s Day. This year Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 31st March.

When is the best time to order food for Mother's Day?
Mother’s Day is one of the busiest times for catering, so you should order your food as soon as you have an idea of your plans. You can always change your order if your plans or numbers change. At Dine Delivered ™ we offer all our menus at just 4 days notice, and some dishes can be ordered 24 hours in advance, so if you’ve left things until the last minute, we should be able to help!

Does the food arrive hot or cold?
All our food is prepared by chefs, chilled and packed in insulated chilled packaging, ready for you to finish and serve. Hot food will require some standard kitchen facilities to finish. However all the hard work is done for you, and there are full instructions provided- you do not need to be Delia Smith to whizz up the perfect Mother’s Day lunch!
Is there an option to gift wrap the food for Mothers Day?
Our food comes in standard packaging, there is no gift wrap available.
Can I add a special Mothers Day message?
Unfortunately we are unable to add special messages to your order.
Do you cater for special diets for Mother’s Day?
Of course! Just select your menu then go to ‘add a special diet’. We cater for special diets including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free, and can recommend options suitable for Kosher and Halal diets. You can also select dishes without specific allergens in the ingredients if needed. All of our dishes have full ingredients listed on the website so you can make the perfect choices for you and your guests.
Do you have children’s meals?
Dine Delivered ™ offer a range of meals especially for children- choose your menu, then select ‘add a children’s meal’ from the drop-down menu. Our system will put together some Mother’s Day ideas for your junior guests to compliment the adults options.
Can you do breakfast in bed for Mother’s Day?
We have a range of breakfast ideas, from Danish pastries to granola pots to a hot savoury options. Where you serve them is entirely up to you!
